Quadriplegic Artist Tommy Hollenstein

Hollenstein uses his front and rear tires, swirling bright and sometimes hot colored
paint in patterns, lines or circles. There is a rhythm, a sort of
syncopation in color. Once he lays down a tone, even just a small
patch, he stops to hose off the tires, lets the first paint dry then
adds a new layer. A single painting may take several weeks to complete,
and may have as many as 50 layers of paint.

Ever since I was young I have admired athletes. The strength and charisma they carry with them has always fascinated me. So at age 15, I made the decision that I wanted to start lifting weights. I figured that even if I couldn’t have the coordination, speed and agility of an able body person, I could still possess the same type of strength.
When I decided to enter the race for the State
Senate, I did so because I want to help instill hope and bring a
renewed sense of optimism to politics.
                  One
of the best things about campaigning for public office is the
opportunity it presents to meet with people from all walks of life.
Your input and insight are most welcomed, and I look forward to having you join me in Overcoming Challenges for New York.
