Welcome to Support the Wall

This website was created in order to support Robert Wall during his recovery from the devastating spinal cord injury that occurred on August 20, 2005 while on vacation.  On that day, Rob sustained paralysis from the shoulders down after diving into shallow water (see About section for details).  His medical team concluded that his chances of ever walking again were slim and that he could only expect to regain partial use of his upper body.

Rob could not imagine spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair and sought alternative treatment modalities in order to continue his recovery.  This quest led him to a program called Project Walk and he relocated to California for one and a half years in order to attend the program fulltime.  During his time at Project Walk, Rob regained the ability to stand and walk short distances with the assistance of a walker.  He also learned the skills necessary to continue his treatment outside of Project Walk’s main facility.  Rob is currently living in Virginia where he is working 1:1 with a private recovery specialist and starting a non profit called Care Code, Inc. www.carecode.org.

A charitable campaign has been established in Rob’s honor in order to ease the financial burden caused by his injury.  In order to make a contribution or participate in an upcoming fundraiser please visit the Support section of this site.

This site is dedicated to keeping Rob’s extensive support system updated about his remarkable recovery from spinal cord injury.  Rob and his wife Mandy wish to thank each one of you for helping them survive this life changing event-the prayers, words of encouragement and donations will never be forgotten!
