LONDONDERRY – The New Hampshire Chapter of the National Spinal
Cord Injury Association is accepting registrations for its fifth annual
golf marathon Friday, May 25, at Townsend Ridge Country Club in
Townsend, Mass.
Golfers
attempt to play 100 holes in a day, raising funds to support the work
of the spinal cord injury association, which, among its activities,
provides resource binders to the newly injured, participates in
Disability Mentoring Day each year, publishes a monthly newsletter,
organizes peer visits, and maintains a Web site with a discussion
board, classified ads and an event calendar.
Golfers are
required to be fundraisers and the organization requests that each
participant aim to raise a minimum of $500. In return, golfers receive
a duffel bag, polo shirt, hat, 100 balls and three meals during the
day. Golfers who raise more than $2,500 can win an iPod Nano, a Sony
home theater system or Sony Cyber Shot digital camera. There are also
raffles and prizes for notable players including most lost balls, most
triple bogies and most holes played.
The course will only be open to golf marathon participants that day. It will take place rain or shine.
