Low Blow...

Here are a couple of paragraphs from a news story that really upset me...

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh refused to apologize for accusing Mr. Fox of "acting" out severe Parkinson's symptoms during a 30-second television ad endorsing Claire McCaskill, the Democratic candidate for U.S. senator and a strong advocate of publicly funded stem-cell research.

The spot, which first aired statewide during the World Series opener, shows Mr. Fox shaken by uncontrollable body tremors as he asks viewers to elect Ms. McCaskill in the Nov. 7 mid-term elections.

She "shares my hopes for cures," he says, adding the incumbent, Republican Jim Talent, opposes a ballot measure that would protect stem-cell research in Missouri's constitution.

The response from Mr. Limbaugh, whose radio show reaches 10 million listeners, was withering and accusatory. "He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's clearly an act," he said on his program. "This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he is acting. He is an actor, after all."

Come on... whatever your beliefs are on stem-cell research, is it really necessary to make personal blows like that? Yes, Michael J. Fox has parkinson's disease. And if he wants to go off his medication to show the true effects of the disease, that is admirable in my book.

Hey, Limbaugh... where were you when Christopher Reeve was advocating stem-cell research? Why weren't you screaming... "he's just acting... he doesn't have a spinal cord injury."

Perhaps you need to get back on your medication... you fat jerk!
