Richard and Kyle Petty, in advance of the Crown Royal Presents Dan Lowry 400, May 3 at the Richmond (VA) International Raceway, will drop by to meet paralyzed veterans at Richmond’s Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center on May 1, 2008. The legendary duo will visit with seriously wounded troops and meet leaders and members of Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans) Virginia Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

The Pettys are longtime supporters of Paralyzed Veterans’ work to ensure that those who have served and sacrificed have everything they need to thrive.

BEIJING (Reuters) - A giant panda has gone under the knife in a ground-breaking two-and-a-half hour operation to fix a broken back, Chinese state media said Friday. 

The 20-year-old panda was found partly paralyzed, most likely the loser in a breeding season battle with another male, at a nature reserve in central Shaanxi province, the China Daily said.

 In celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 17-23, Canada’s Man In Motion, Rick Hansen, extends his gratitude to the volunteers of Belleville who make Rick Hansen’s Wheels In Motion (RHWIM), presented by Scotia Bank, a reality. Since inception, RHWIM volunteers across Canada have helped to raise over $1.8-million to improve the quality of life of Canadians living with a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).

“We are so grateful to the volunteers who support our Foundation,” says Rick Hansen, CEO and President of the Rick Hansen Man In Motion Foundation. “They are dedicated individuals and I have a deep appreciation for the time and effort they provide in helping to make a difference in the lives of people with SCI.”
